    Choosing the right BoneCrusher model

How do I choose the right BoneCrusher model for my home?

When choosing a BoneCrusher disposer, consider:

Cabinets size: choose slimmer, more compact models.

For a typical city family of 3–4 people, the most universal choice is BC 800 – optimal power, compact size, reliable performance and reasonable price.

For bigger families or very frequent cooking, consider BC 900 or 910.

How much space does a BoneCrusher disposer take?

BoneCrusher disposers are designed to be compact enough to fit under a standard kitchen sink, while leaving usable space in the cabinet. The exact height and width depend on the model, but all household units are made for typical under-sink installations.

How difficult is it to install a BoneCrusher disposer?
Every unit comes with a detailed installation manual.A handy homeowner can mount the unit under the sink by following the instructions. Connection to the plumbing and sewer system must be done by a qualified plumber. You can also purchase a universal installation kit with all necessary pipes and connectors. If you are not confident with plumbing or electrical work, we recommend using a professional installer.
Can I use BoneCrusher disposers with a septic system?

Yes. BoneCrusher disposers can be used with septic systems.

    • All models are suitable for septic tanks
    • Expect a 7–10% increase in water use.
    • For small country houses with a septic system, compact models are usually the best fit.
Do I need a special sink for BoneCrusher?

No special sink is required, but there are a few rules:

    • Fits any stainless-steel sink and most other sinks with a drain opening around 90 mm.
    • For stainless-steel sinks, the drain opening may need to be enlarged with a special press – this should be done by a qualified technician.
    • The disposer can be installed on both single and double bowl sinks.

    Using the disposer

How do I use a BoneCrusher disposer correctly?
Jams are very rare, and usually happen when forbidden objects (metal pieces, rags, etc.) get inside.
    1. Turn on cold water.
    2. Switch on the disposer.
    3. Feed food waste in small portions into the sink opening
(you can use a plunger or special pusher).
    4. When the waste is ground and flushed away, turn off the disposer.
    5. Let the water run for a couple of seconds, then turn the water off.

The whole process only takes a few seconds.

    How does BoneCrusher actually work?
    • Food waste falls into the grinding chamber together with cold water.
    • Inside there are no knives or blades. Grinding is done by:
      • a rotating plate (grinding disk),
      • and a fixed grinding ring with a rough surface (like a very fine grater).
    • Under centrifugal force, waste is thrown against the ring, broken into tiny particles and flushed through small openings with water into the drain pipe.

The grinding mechanism is located deep inside the unit, so the risk of accidental injury is practically zero.

What can and can’t be put into the disposer?

What can I put into a BoneCrusher disposer?

You can safely grind most everyday food waste, including:

    • vegetable and fruit peels

    • herbs, small stems, seeds

    • fish scraps

    • chicken and small fish bones

    • melon rinds

    • egg shells

    • nutshells (in reasonable amounts)

    • small amounts of soft leftovers

    • paper napkins and paper towels

    • cigarette butts

In fact, regularly grinding chicken bones helps clean the grinding chamber and drain pipes.

What should I NOT put into the disposer?

BoneCrusher household disposers are not designed for:

    • large meat bones
    • corn cobs
    • large amounts of onion skins
    • large amounts of coarse fish scales
    • shells of large sea animals (crabs, lobsters, etc.)
    • plastic bags, polyethylene
    • string, threads, cloth, rags
    • metal objects, glass, or stones
    • any non-food solid waste in large quantities

These items can cause blockages or jams in the disposer or plumbing.

    Jams, maintenance and reliability

What happens if the disposer jams?

Jams are very rare, and usually happen when forbidden objects (metal pieces, rags, etc.) get inside.

    • Every BoneCrusher disposer has an automatic overload protection system.
    • If the motor is overloaded, it will shut off to protect itself.
    • After removing the foreign object and resetting the unit according to the manual, it can be used again.
    How reliable are BoneCrusher disposers?

BoneCrusher units are built for long-term, intensive use:

    • They come with a warranty that covers replacement of parts if needed.
    • In practice, breakdowns are rare when the disposer is used properly.
    • There are authorized service centers and repair options (check availability in your region).
Does a BoneCrusher disposer require regular maintenance?

Household BoneCrusher disposers are designed to be almost maintenance-free.

    • Daily use is actually the best prevention of deposits and odors.
    • You don’t need to disassemble or lubricate anything.
    • If, in the unlikely event, the appliance stops working, you can still use the sink as usual until it is repaired or replaced.

    Environmental aspects & general information

Why is a food waste disposer useful in a modern kitchen?

Food waste is one of the main sources of:

    • unpleasant smells,
    • bacteria and mold,
    • insects,
    • overflowing and dirty trash bins.

    A BoneCrusher disposer:

    • eliminates food waste within seconds,
    • prevents smells and bacteria from spreading in the kitchen,
    • reduces the number of full trash bags,
    • makes cooking and cleaning up much faster and more pleasant.

In many countries, food waste disposers are now considered a standard kitchen appliance, both in new and older homes.

Does a disposer help the environment?

Traditional food waste often ends up in landfills where it:

    • decomposes slowly,
    • releases CO₂ and methane,
    • attracts pests and creates sanitary problems.

    With a disposer:

    • food waste is ground into tiny particles and sent with water to wastewater treatment plants,
    • where it can be processed and used as biomass, compost, or energy (depending on local treatment technologies).

This helps reduce the amount of organic waste in landfills and supports more sustainable waste management.
